Electromobility

Five Life-changing Benefits of Electromobility

We are living in an era where the environmental implication is much grand than ever before. Our ancestors and we have done some terrible things with our environment. In this scenario, it won’t be wrong to say that we are the ones who are going to suffer for the mistakes of our ancestors. But as it is said that better late than never. Hence, still that mistakes can be compensated. The term “electromobility” is the name of one such effort. With electromobility, there is a great chance that we can get things to straighten up for the future, we can make our planet green, and most of all, we can ensure a clean and greener future for our fore coming generations.

Although electromobility is quite a wide array subject, but in a nutshell, it is all about having emission-free and energy-efficient vehicles. From public transport to logistics, every associated vehicle will be using clean energy and therefore making our surroundings prosper and green.

For contributing towards such a noble cause, Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) introduced the world’s first emission-free quarry, with the project name as Electric Site. The obtained results were far better than their expectations. They recorded a whopping 70% reduction in the energy cost and were able to cut their operational cost by 40%. Furthermore, a 98% reduction in the CO2 footprints proved that electromobility is indeed a future.

Five Key Benefits of Electromobility

The concept of modern electromobility was first rolled in 1997 when Toyota Prius was launched. Since then, a lot of supporting and counter-arguments have been made in this regard. But given the growing environmental concerns and depleting energy resources, everyone has started to take electromobility seriously. However, for those who are still in doubt, the following are some of the top-notch life-changing benefits of electromobility:

1. Clean Energy

According to the study of the Environmental Defense Fund, about 20% of the world’s total carbon emissions are produced from the cars. This is equivalent to 333 million of the CO2 emissions annually into our atmosphere. This sets the target area for curtailing growing environmental issues. Unlike conventional vehicles, electric vehicles use power from the batteries that are rather a clean source of energy. Furthermore, the absence of an exhaust system also makes it environmentally compliant. As per statistics, 20% of carbon emissions are reduced as soon as fueling mode is shifted to the electric charging. However, this value can go up to 85% if renewable sources like wind energy or solar energy are used to charge the batteries of electric vehicles.

2. Less Dependency on Fossil Fuels

Nearly all kinds of fossil fuels emit harmful pollutants and pour CO2 into the environment during their extraction process. These pollutants then become a rich source of smog and acid rain. Apart from environmental impacts, their depletion is another reason why alternate is supposed to be sought.

Conventional vehicles operate chiefly on fossil fuels, their global depletion and fluctuating cost calls for less dependence on them. Electromobility is the one fine way to combat these concerns. As they are driven with the help of electric power, going for electric vehicles will ensure our less dependence on the conventional fueling sources.

3. Air Quality

Improved air quality is one of the brightest advantages of electromobility. Due to mass industrialization and immense growth in the number of vehicles on the roads, our air has been badly polluted. Due to this, a number of respiratory diseases have erupted. According to the statistics of the United Nations, 1 in 9 global deaths occurs just because of air pollution.

But thanks to the approximate emission-free feature of the electromobility, our air quality tends to improve. Many developed countries like Germany, Norway, USA, and China has facilitated the mass sale of electric vehicles to improve air quality. Seeing the appreciable reports about air quality from these countries, the United Nations is working on a project to sponsor electromobility initiatives in fifty developing countries.

4. Cost-Effectiveness

Electric vehicles are not just environmentally friendly, they are cost-friendly too. Their cost-effective feature is validated by the study conducted at the University of Michigan. According to this study, it cost about an average of $1,117 annually, to operate a conventional gasoline-powered vehicle. On the contrary, it costs an annual amount of just $485, on average, to operate an electric vehicle. It must be noted that this study just considered fuel costs. But if we look at the maintenance cost, then there is no doubt that it will still be much less than conventional vehicles, as there are only a few moving parts. Furthermore, no compulsion to change air filters, oil filters, spark plugs, and other components also lower the operation and maintenance cost.

5. Government Support

A lot of European nations, along with other countries, has pledged to fight climate challenges with stern hands. They all have reached a unanimous consensus on the mass implementation of electromobility initiatives, as it is one rigorous way to reduce environmental challenges. For example, Germany has vowed to make its transport sector free from any greenhouse gasses by the year 2050. For this, they are incentivizing the transport sector to procure and operate environment-friendly buses, cars, vans, and even trucks. Consequently, when such measures are being supported on the governmental level, it gives more room for the common public as well as investors to invest in green products, thereby promoting electromobility.

Conclusion

There is no doubt in admitting the relevance and importance of electromobility in combating issues, like greenhouse gases and climate change. Both of these are sheer providers of bad air quality, depleting environmental conditions, and increased air pollution. In a nutshell, electromobility is the one green, feasible, and harm-free weapon to combat these challenges. These five life-changing benefits present enough validation to let electromobility come in action. It is a time to let electromobility repair the damages that we all have caused to our planet.
